In the spring of 2010, The Johns Hopkins University will host its 39th annual Spring Fair. From Friday, April 23th through Sunday, April 25th, the sights, sounds, and smells of Fair will transform the University into a fun filled atmosphere for all ages. Spring Fair, a non-profit student run organization, is a highly anticipated event for the University and the Baltimore-DC community.

Each year, vendors flock to Johns Hopkins University’s Homewood Campus for the three day event to sell their wares and promote their organizations. Spring Fair also offers daytime and nighttime entertainment which appeals to a wide range of ages and a variety of interests. Our campus becomes a venue for entertainers, ranging from silly magicians to local musicians. The large children’s section promotes literacy and allows children to step into their favorite stories through interactive games and contests. Along with these events, Spring Fair also hosts an assortment of carnival games, rides, and trips. Visitors can choose to participate in a wide range of activities, such as contests of pie-eating, photography, bush diving, and karaoke. Food offerings range from corn dogs and popcorn to gourmet multicultural cuisine.

There are many other beloved Spring Fair traditions, exemplified in the Beer Garden. Located in the Johns Hopkins President’s Garden, student groups fundraise by distributing beer as live music plays. Another highly-anticipated annual tradition is the spectacular Saturday night concert event, which features nationally-recognized musical acts. Along with these events, Spring Fair also hosts an assortment of carnival games and rides. On average, Spring Fair boasts over eighty arts and crafts vendors, thirty food vendors, thirty-five major non-profit vendors, and thirty student group booths.
